CLEAN WASTE DISPOSAL APPLICATION AND DECLARATION

South Taranaki Quarries Ltd reserves the right to reject any load containing material that the Taranaki Regional Council define as non-clean fill/waste material or clean fill material that may contain contaminants. Please refer to the table on page 5 to understand what material types are acceptable. The material must not contain rubbish or contaminants of any kind.

What you must do:

  1. Complete this form (Prompt return of this application will assist us with processing time).
  2. Approved applications will be notified in writing by return email.
  3. Clean waste can only be deposited once an application has been approved.

1. CLEAN WASTE DISPOSAL PROCESS

Once your application has been accepted and approved in writing, the process to follow when depositing clean waste is:

  1. Drivers, upon arrival, will be required to declare each load in writing on a form located in the clearly sign posted shed;
  2. The Driver must then report to the loader operator for further instructions;
  3. Clean waste disposal charges will be invoiced weekly, with the dockets being cross checked against the clean waste disposal declaration.

Surveillance cameras are monitored and positioned to view material upon entry. South Taranaki Quarries staff may conduct visual spot checks of the material prior to disposal and of the clean waste disposal site.

Should a load be identified to have been deposited which does not meet the criteria or is deemed unacceptable and rejected by South Taranaki Quarries (at its discretion and at any time), the load will be removed (with the Account Holder being contacted and given opportunity to remedy). The Account Holder accepts liability for all costs associated with removal of fill material from the South Taranaki Quarries site. This includes any testing required, handling, transport and all other direct and consequential costs that South Taranaki Quarries may incur.

2. TERMS OF USE

The Account Holder is responsible to:

  • Ensure that all clean waste disposed of at our site is within the acceptable waste criteria outlined on page 5.
  • Provide true and accurate information to South Taranaki Quarries.
  • Follow directions of South Taranaki Quarries staff at all times.
  • Any clean waste not meeting the acceptable waste criteria, or which is deemed unacceptable and rejected by South Taranaki Quarries will be removed and the Account Holder accepts liability for all costs associated with removal of fill material from the site. This includes any testing required and all direct and consequential or indirect costs that South Taranaki Quarries may incur.

The Account Holder further agrees to fully cooperate with South Taranaki Quarries if there is any other information or assistance required in relation to clean waste deposited.

South Taranaki Quarries:

  • Reserves the right to suspend clean waste disposal operations at any time for any duration and do not accept any liability for costs associated with the closure.
  • South Taranaki Quarries is not liable to the Account Holder in any way if the clean waste material is rejected or needs to be removed from the site for any reason.

3. SAFETY INFORMATION

In the case of an emergency requiring evacuation of the quarry, being any of the following but not limited to, either a fire, earthquake, serious accident, bomb threat, structural collapse, tsunami, explosion, aviation accident, hazardous spill or practice evacuation - the following warning will sound:

THREE LONG BLASTS ON A HORN – REPEATED TWICE

All persons will be required to evacuate to the marked assembly point.

Fire Extinguishers - A fire extinguisher is located in the site office.
First Aid Kits - First aid kits are located in the site office.
Designated Assembly Areas - Top of the hill at entrance to quarry.

  • All accidents and near misses must be reported to the Site Manager
  • Protective safety equipment appropriate to the environment must always be worn – including but not limited to hi-vis, safety boots and hard hats
  • All light vehicles give way to heavy vehicles
  • Drivers are to ensure load security and complete a final check
  • Upon arrival and after declaration of your clean waste load, wait in a safe open area for an operator to come to you
  • Be aware of all high faces, open ponds, moving machinery and loose stockpiles
  • Do not approach machinery until an operator has indicated to do so
  • Do not bring in or be under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs at any time
  • Be aware of evacuations and emergency procedures in our workplace
  • If you are unsure – ASK!

4. SITE ACCESS INFORMATION

  • Operating hours for the Whenuku Road Quarry are strictly 7:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday (Saturdays only by prior arrangement).
  • Enter and exit Whenuku Road via Ketemarae Road only.
  • Do not exceed 50km per hour along Whenuku Road.
  • Slow to a maximum of 30km per hour for pedestrians, cyclists and children along Whenuku Road and when within 300m of our quarry entrance
  • Do not use engine brakes; in, out, or along Whenuku Road.
