Lahar Andesite
Our Opunake Quarry supplies lahar andesite. Lahar is the method by which the deposits came to be at the site via a debris flow composed of a slurry of pyroclastic material, rocky debris, and water. The material flows down from a volcano, typically along a river valley. Andesite is the volcanic rock (or lava) containing 54 to 62% silica and moderate amounts of iron and magnesium.
